Turning a Dipping Glaze into a Brushing Glaze

CMC gum is an additive that you add to make a brushing glaze. It makes it thicker and creamier, a lot easier to brush onto your piece. Whether you are adding it to a glaze you just made up to make a brushing glaze or you are adding it to a dipping glaze to make it more brushable CMC gum is a great solution to use.

  1. Slake 1/2 a cup of CMC Gum powder to 6 cups of boiling or HOT water and let it slake/sit overnight
  2. In the morning mix using a blender or immersion blender.
    • It should be thick and gooey like snot or gelatin
  3. Thin it with water (in small amounts) to a thick pudding-like consistency
  4. To make a 300g batch of glaze, add ONLY a quarter-sized dollop of gum
  5. Mix in until milk-like consistency becomes creamy and delicious!
