Peacock Glazing Technique

Materials needed

  1. Bisque Bowl (needs to have a slope) or mug
  2. Mayco Stroke & Coats
    • You can use a brush but if you have the 8 oz or larger bottles these tips work much better to apply the stroke and coats
  3. Flux
  4. Brush, Fineliner
    • Even better but don’t need to have it is the Silk Paint
  5. Glaze of your choice
    • May need to test to see how it works
    • I usually use a semi transparent glaze

This is a sample design and how I made my pieces shown above you can try other ways too

The orange-red lines are the flux and the green dots are the stroke and coats

Instructions

  1. Fill the pen with Flux
    • Optional put the writer tips on the Stroke & Coat bottles
  2. Draw “W’s” either like the example or just underneath not connected with the flux on the inside of your bowls or just the top quarter or fifth of your mug
    • You could also do X’s or other patters your choice
  3. Make sure you have 2 good coats of flux
  4. Your choice of Stroke and Coats add dots inside the middle of the “W”s
    • Another option is to have the dots touching the bottom of the “W”
  5. Add a glaze on top. I usually use a semi-transparent glaze like celadon glazes
  6. Fire
